AIM-quoted Tern (LON:TERN) said Sarah Payne had been appointed as finance director with effect from September 1 this year.
The 42 year old has more than 17 years' experience as a chartered accountant within a variety of successful senior management positions and also worked in the BBC for six years.
There she was head of business, analysis and planning before joining an accounting and financial services consultancy company which specialises in providing outsourced accounting services to the tech sector.
Tern chairman Angus Forrest said: "We are delighted to welcome Sarah to the board. Her experience will be invaluable as we manage the growth of the existing businesses and acquire and sell companies."
Laurence Reed left the board on July 17, 2015 and a new non-executive appointment will be announced in due course, the firm said.
