AOTI shares rise 11% as wound oxygen therapy heals 65% of hard-to-treat cases

AOTI Inc (AIM:AOTI), the medical technology company, rose 11% to 47p after publishing a large real-world study showing its Topical Wound Oxygen therapy healed nearly two-thirds of chronic wound patients who had failed to respond to other treatments for an average of seven months.

The retrospective study, published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery-Vascular Insights, covered 3,126 patients with diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, arterial ulcers and atypical wounds, and recorded a complete healing rate of 64.8% in a mean time of 4.2 months.

The recurrence rate stood at just 2.7% over a mean follow-up of 13.9 months, comparing favourably with US Wound Registry benchmarks of 45% for diabetic foot ulcers and 57% for venous leg ulcers treated with standard and advanced therapies.

Hospitalisation and amputation rates among the study group were 3.7% and 6.1%, respectively, against historical norms of 54.1% and 41.4% for diabetic foot ulcer patients not receiving the treatment.

AOTI's TWO2 device delivers intermittent pressurised oxygen directly to wounds and is designed for home use alongside standard care.

Chief executive Mike Griffiths said broader adoption would deliver meaningful clinical and economic benefits to healthcare systems.
