Small Cap Watch: Elixir lifts Taroom resources, Janus begins rollout, FireFly clears asset sale

Small and mid caps are heading into a more positive session, with ASX futures pointing higher even as rising oil prices and ongoing Middle East tensions keep a lid on broader risk appetite.

Today’s updates show continued momentum across energy, electrification and critical minerals, alongside a mix of funding, portfolio reshaping and early-stage project development.

Elixir expands Taroom resource base

Elixir Energy Ltd (ASX:EXR, OTC:ELXPF) has booked an additional 662BCFe of 2C contingent gas resources at its ATP2057 permit, lifting its total Taroom Trough position by 24% to around 3.5TCFe.

The upgrade follows recent seismic work that identified hydrocarbon-bearing Permian reservoirs, with more than half the permit still considered prospective upside ahead of further drilling.

Janus kicks off national electrification rollout

Janus Electric Holdings Ltd (ASX:JNS) has launched its first South Australian conversion centre, marking the start of a broader dealer-led rollout of its heavy vehicle electrification platform.

The new facility is expected to handle up to 50 truck conversions in its first year, with capacity set to scale as additional partners come online across multiple states.

FireFly completes Ontario asset divestment

FireFly Metals Ltd (ASX:FFM, TSX:FFM, OTC:MNXMF) has secured all approvals for the sale of its Ontario gold assets to Bellavista Resources, with completion expected later this month.

The deal allows FireFly to retain exposure via an in-specie distribution while sharpening its focus on the Green Bay copper-gold project.

American Rare Earths accelerates US strategy

American Rare Earths Ltd (ASX:ARR, OTCQX:ARRNF) used its quarterly update to outline a faster pathway to production at its Halleck Creek project, including plans for a Wyoming-based pilot plant.

The company is also progressing downstream processing studies and government engagement as it positions within the US domestic rare earth supply chain.

Askari maps drilling pipeline across African projects

Askari Metals Ltd (ASX:AS2, FRA:7ZG) has outlined a district-scale exploration program across its Nejo gold-copper project in Ethiopia in its latest quarterly report, with multiple drill-ready targets identified across two major gold-copper corridors and a maiden drilling campaign of up to 5,000 metres planned.

The program targets multiple mineralised corridors, with a broader phased campaign exceeding 20,000 metres aimed at advancing towards a maiden resource.
