Bango PLC (AIM:BGO, OTCQX:BGOPF) has won two direct carrier billing mandates in Hong Kong and Latvia, taking business from incumbent providers and extending its reach with mobile operators that already offer the payment method to app store users.
The AIM-listed group said Telin, a Hong Kong unit of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, and Latvia’s LMT both selected Bango after competitive tender processes.
Telin’s addition means Bango now supports four of the five Hong Kong mobile operators offering direct carrier billing for Google Play.
The company said Telin serves an important part of the market, including Indonesian migrant workers who often depend on SIM-based payments because they have limited access to traditional banking services.
In Latvia, LMT has offered DCB on Google Play since 2017 and will now move that service to Bango, which said the change will improve performance and scalability.
Chief operating officer Wayne Griffiths said the wins showed the platform could deliver “superior performance at scale” and help telcos “maximise conversion, simplify operations and unlock new revenue opportunities.”
