Noxopharm Ltd (ASX:NOX) has appointed Dr Olivier Laczka as chief executive officer, effective immediately, elevating a long-standing executive closely tied to the development of its Sofra technology platform.
Laczka transitions into the role from his position as chief scientific officer – inflammation, bringing experience across drug development, biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals and diagnostics. His appointment is expected to provide continuity as the company advances opportunities linked to its Sofra platform following recent clinical and research milestones.
A central figure in Sofra’s evolution, Laczka has led the strategic development of the platform over several years, positioning it as a key focus for Noxopharm’s pipeline. The technology targets inflammatory and autoimmune diseases while also extending into RNA therapeutics, vaccines and oncology applications, giving it broad potential across immune-related conditions.
Chairman Fred Bart said Laczka’s deep involvement in the Sofra program made him the ideal person to lead the company into its next phase.
"Dr Laczka has made a very significant contribution to the development of the Sofra program and is the ideal person to steer the next phase of our growth. He has led our scientific team with genuine vision and energy while forming deep collaborative relationships with our external partners, and we have real confidence in his ability to deliver value for our shareholders.”
Dr Olivier Laczka has been appointed chief executive officer of Noxopharm.
Deep platform knowledge
Beyond his technical credentials, the appointment highlights the company’s preference for internal leadership continuity at a time when execution will be key. As a long-standing member of the executive team, Laczka brings detailed knowledge of Noxopharm’s research pipeline, established collaborations and strategic priorities, which may help streamline decision-making as the company looks to capitalise on recent progress, including the HERACLES clinical trial and publication of research in a high-profile journal.
The Sofra platform itself represents a core value driver for the company, built on short nucleic acid sequences designed to regulate inflammation at its source. Its versatility across multiple therapeutic areas positions it within large and growing global markets spanning autoimmune diseases and immuno-oncology.
Laczka said he would focus on building the company in shareholders’ interests while pursuing emerging opportunities tied to the platform.
“I am honoured to have been entrusted by the board in this new role,” he said. “We have a real opportunity to grow by seizing the opportunities that are opening up for us.”
His appointment signals a strategic alignment between leadership and technology, placing a key architect of Sofra at the helm as Noxopharm looks to translate its scientific progress into commercial outcomes.
