Trillion Energy reports light oil discovery in southeastern Türkiye

Trillion Energy International Inc. (CSE:TCF, OTCQB:TRLEF, FRA:Z620) said it has made a light oil discovery at its Çetinkaya-1 well in southeastern Türkiye and is shifting focus toward high-impact oil exploration, after drilling results confirmed multiple hydrocarbon-bearing zones.

Shares of Trillion surged 110% on the news.

The company said the Çetinkaya-1 (C-1) exploration and appraisal well on Block M47C3,C4 in Şırnak Province encountered 32.4° API light oil within Cretaceous Beloka and Mardin Group carbonate reservoirs.

Wireline logging and analysis indicated 38 metres of net oil pay within a 76.6-metre gross reservoir interval, representing roughly a 50% net-to-gross ratio. The company also cited fracture-adjusted net pay of about 36 to 38.5 metres.

Trillion said the reservoir showed average effective porosity of 5.5% and estimated fracture-enhanced permeability of 5 to 50 millidarcies, with water saturation averaging 25%. A best reservoir interval of about 7 metres showed porosity up to 8.1% and water saturation as low as 8%, indicating more than 90% oil saturation.

The company added that a 30-barrel acid stimulation and swab test confirmed fracture permeability and produced 32.4° API light oil, with oil cuts reaching 36% in the final swab campaign.

Importantly, Trillion said drilling was halted at 2,455 metres due to loss of circulation, leaving a significant portion of the targeted 250 to 350 metre reservoir section untested. The company estimates more than 160 metres of additional reservoir remains unpenetrated.

It also highlighted multiple stacked pay zones across the Beloka and Derdere formations, including a 13-metre net pay interval in Zone A, which remains unperforated and is identified as a near-term testing target.

Trillion said it plans a sidetrack well to target the structural crest of the North Lead structure, located roughly 75 to 100 metres higher, where it believes a thicker hydrocarbon column may be present.

The company noted the C-1 well was drilled on the eastern flank of the North Lead structure near a spill point, suggesting only a portion of the hydrocarbon system was encountered.

Block M47C3,C4 is located about 11 kilometres southeast of Türkiye’s largest onshore oil field, the Şehit Aybüke Yalçın field, which produces from similar carbonate reservoirs.

Trillion said reservoir characteristics observed at Çetinkaya-1, including light oil gravity and fracture-driven flow, are consistent with nearby producing fields, supporting the potential commerciality of the North Lead discovery.

The company described the results as confirming the broader potential of the Mardin Group carbonate system in the region as it refocuses its strategy toward oil exploration.
