Ariana Resources PLC (AIM:AAU, ASX:AA2, FRA:4A6) has appointed Michael Atkins as the company's new chair with immediate effect, as the miner ties a boardroom reshuffle to a broader transformation around its flagship Dokwe Gold Project in Zimbabwe.
Atkins, previously non-executive deputy chairman, replaces Michael de Villiers, who steps down as chairman after 13 years and moves into the deputy chairman role while remaining company secretary.
Managing director Kerim Sener said the appointment marks the start of a company-wide transformation process aimed at positioning Ariana for its next phase of growth.
Sener said Atkins brings extensive resources-sector chairing experience and a strong background in corporate development. He also credited de Villiers with helping steer Ariana through a period in which the group’s Turkish assets progressed from exploration into production.
"With a wealth of experience as a company chairman in the resources sector and a proven track record in corporate development, Michael's appointment signifies the commencement of the company-wide transformation process currently underway, positioning it for future growth and success with our flagship Dokwe Gold Project," Sener said.
