Vistry Group PLC (LSE:VTY) has appointed Adam Daniels as chief executive with immediate effect, after executive chairman Greg Fitzgerald handed in his notice last month.
Daniels is currently executive chair of one of the FTSE 250 housebuilder's two largest regional divisions, and will be joining the board as an executive director for the first time.
It means that Fitzgerald will step down sooner than expected, though he will assist with the transition. Non-executive director Rob Woodward has taken up the role as chair and Rowan Baker is the new senior independent director.
After gaining a construction-focused degree, he started work at housebuilder Bloor Homes in 2009, then joined Galliford Try's partnerships arm, and moved to Countryside Partnerships in 2016, before it merged with Vistry in 2022. He has most recently been leading the Yorkshire, North Midlands and West divisions.
In its announcement of the appointment, the company stressed that he has held a series of senior roles across the business and has experience in partnerships housing, land management and operational delivery, and has worked closely with local authorities and housing associations.
The appointment follows a process led by the nomination committee, which considered both internal and external candidates.
Non-executive chair Rob Woodward said Daniels is “a proven leader, clear thinker and strong operator”.
Daniels said: "As outlined at the time of our 2025 results last month, the group is currently focused on improving cash generation, driving open market sales and reducing inventory levels."
He said these objectives "remain an absolute priority" for the board in 2026, "to ensure the business is well positioned to capture the opportunities ahead".
