Nova Minerals Ltd (ASX:NVA, NASDAQ:NVA, OTC:NVAAF, FRA:QM3) continues to strengthen its leadership and executive team with the appointment of Ashlie Thorburn as chief financial officer, starting on April 20, 2026. The appointment comes as Nova enters an important growth and development phase at its flagship Estelle Gold and Critical Minerals Project in Alaska.
Thorburn brings more than 20 years of experience in senior finance leadership roles, largely in the mining sector across both listed and private companies.
Her background includes experience with SEC, TSX and ASX reporting, as well as financial reporting, audit and compliance, corporate governance and investor relations support. She has also worked closely with boards and audit committees and has been involved in debt and equity financings, corporate strategy and transactions including public listings and mergers and acquisitions.
“Ashlie brings a strong track record in the mineral resources sector, with deep expertise in project financing, capital allocation, and cost control across the mining lifecycle. Her experience includes financial modelling for feasibility studies and mine development, and the implementation of robust reporting frameworks aligned with industry standards. She also has significant experience managing funding strategies for exploration and development assets,” Nova CEO, Christopher Gerteisen, said.
“Importantly, Ashlie brings extensive experience in US capital markets, including SEC reporting and compliance, financial disclosures, and internal controls. Her background includes oversight of periodic Glings, adherence to regulatory requirements, and engagement with US-based institutional investors. This expertise will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our governance framework and expand our presence in US capital markets as a US-domiciled company.”
Experience spans listed mining, advisory and corporate finance roles
Most recently, Thorburn was US finance lead at Southwest Critical Materials, where she was responsible for acquisition integration, budgeting, treasury management and private equity reporting.
Before that, she served as a senior manager at Armanino Advisory, advising on finance transformation, public company readiness and technical accounting matters.
Earlier in her career, Thorburn held the role of vice president and controller at Hycroft Mining Holding Corp., where she helped support the company’s transition to a public entity and worked to strengthen financial reporting processes.
She has also held a number of controller and corporate controller positions, building experience in internal controls and supporting early-stage, high-growth businesses.
“I am excited to join the team at such a pivotal time for Nova Minerals and its flagship Estelle Project. The strong foundation that has been established, combined with a clear strategic vision, creates a compelling opportunity to drive long-term value. I look forward to working closely with the leadership team to strengthen our financial position, support the advancement of the Estelle Project toward production, and ensure disciplined execution as we pursue our growth objectives for the benefit of our shareholders,” Thorburn, said.
The appointment adds further financial and corporate reporting capability as the company advances its activities.
