Small Cap Watch: CRR readies lithium fieldwork, Nova names CFO, International Graphite delivers purity gains

Small cap newsflow is on the quieter side heading into a weaker session on Monday morning, with ASX futures pointing lower after a sharp escalation in US–Iran tensions drove an oil price spike and a broader shift back towards risk-off positioning.

While sentiment has turned more cautious, today’s updates highlight continued project-level progress across mining and battery materials, alongside a key executive appointment.

Critical Resources targets lithium expansion at Mavis Lake

Critical Resources Ltd (ASX:CRR, FRA:9S70) is preparing to begin fieldwork at the Corona pegmatite target in Canada, aiming to expand its drill pipeline and resource base at the Mavis Lake Lithium Project.

The program will focus on a largely underexplored 5km corridor, with geochemical results expected later in the quarter to define new drill-ready targets as the company advances the project towards a multi-deposit lithium district.

Nova strengthens leadership with CFO appointment

Nova Minerals Ltd (ASX:NVA, NASDAQ:NVA, OTC:NVAAF, FRA:QM3) has appointed mining finance executive Ashlie Thorburn as chief financial officer, bringing more than 20 years’ experience across listed and private resource companies.

Her background in US capital markets, project financing and corporate strategy is expected to support development of Nova’s Estelle gold and critical minerals project in Alaska.

International Graphite hits high-purity milestone

International Graphite Ltd (ASX:IG6, FRA:H99, OTC:IGRPF) has reported further strong purification results, with all test samples exceeding 99.9% total graphitic carbon using Alkeemia’s hydrofluoric acid-based process.

The results underpin plans for a European processing hub and highlight the potential to produce high-value graphite products from a range of feedstock sources.
