CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) shares moved over 13% higher on Friday, following the company’s announcement of a new multi-year agreement with Anthropic to support the development and deployment of its Claude family of artificial intelligence models.
The partnership will see CoreWeave provide cloud infrastructure to run Anthropic’s AI workloads at production scale, with compute capacity expected to come online later this year.
The deal adds Anthropic to CoreWeave’s expanding roster of customers and partners, as demand for high-performance AI infrastructure continues to grow.
CoreWeave said the agreement strengthens its position within the AI ecosystem, noting that nine of the world’s ten leading AI model providers now use its platform.
The company has focused on building specialized cloud infrastructure optimized for modern AI workloads, aiming to deliver high performance and reliability for enterprise and developer use cases.
Under the terms of the collaboration, Anthropic will leverage CoreWeave’s cloud platform to support the rollout and scaling of its Claude models. The companies indicated that deployment will occur in phases, with the potential for further expansion over time.
Michael Intrator, CoreWeave CEO said the agreement reflects a broader shift in the AI industry toward real-world application and deployment.
“We’re excited to work with Anthropic at the center of where models are put to work and performance in production shows up,” he said. “It’s exactly the kind of real-world deployment of AI that CoreWeave was built for.”
CoreWeave also highlighted its technical benchmarks, including strong results in MLPerf testing and top rankings in SemiAnalysis ClusterMAX evaluations, which measure performance, efficiency, and reliability of AI cloud platforms.
