ATOME shares jump 14% as Paraguay fertiliser funding deal enters final stretch

Shares in ATOME PLC (AIM:ATOM) jumped 14% to 69p on Friday morning after the AIM-listed low-carbon fertiliser developer said funding negotiations for its flagship Paraguay plant had reached their final stages.

Definitive documentation is now being finalised by legal counsel for each party involved in the deal. The longstop date on the equity funding agreement has been extended by one week to 17 April.

The date coincides with the IMF and World Bank Group Spring Meetings in Washington, running from 16 to 18 April, where representatives of all equity and debt participants in the Villeta project are expected to be present at those meetings.

A further announcement is expected at or shortly after the Spring Meetings conclude.

The Villeta plant in central Paraguay is designed to produce 260,000 tonnes of low-carbon fertiliser a year.

It is ATOME's flagship project, with a total development cost of $650 million.

The company describes itself as the UK's only dedicated international industrial-scale low-carbon fertiliser developer.

Its target market is agricultural buyers seeking to reduce the carbon intensity of food production.
