Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU, FRA:E9E) told investors that a ground magnetic survey at its Viuda prospect in Chile has sharpened drill targeting and outlined multiple new porphyry-style gold-copper targets, including a large concealed anomaly west of Viuda Negra ahead of a planned Phase II drilling campaign in the second quarter.
"The completion of the ground magnetic survey at Viuda represents an important step in advancing our understanding of this emerging porphyry-related gold-copper system," said chief executive Sam Garrett.
Garrett added: "Integration of the geophysics with ongoing detailed mapping and surface sampling will directly support refined drill targeting as we progress toward a Phase II drilling programme anticipated in Q2 2026. We look forward to updating shareholders as this work continues."
The company completed 198 line-kilometres of ground magnetics across about 6 square kilometres at Viuda, with the data showing a strong spatial correlation between magnetic-low anomalies, mapped alteration, structures and known gold-copper mineralisation.
One of the standout targets is a northwest-trending magnetic low beneath shallow gravel cover measuring about 1.8 kilometres by 0.5 kilometres, which the company described as a high-priority concealed porphyry target that has yet to be drilled.
At Viuda Negra, Great Southern said the magnetic low associated with mineralisation mapped at surface and intersected in earlier drilling extends roughly 500 metres beyond existing drilling to both the northwest and southeast, pointing to scope for the system to continue outside currently tested ground. Another magnetic high tied to scout RC drilling mineralisation also remains untested.
The survey work builds on 2025 scout drilling at Viuda Negra, where holes returned 121.5 metres at 0.11 g/t gold and 0.05% copper from 6.5 metres, and 73 metres at 0.14 g/t gold and 0.1% copper from 11 metres. Mapping and surface sampling are continuing to refine the geological model and prioritise targets ahead of Phase II drilling.
