MedPal AI shares jump 26% after record pharmacy dispensing figures

Shares in MedPal AI, the AIM-quoted artificial intelligence-powered digital health company, surged 26% to 2.99p on Tuesday after the group reported record dispensing volumes at its wholly owned pharmacy subsidiary, MedPal Limited.

The company dispensed 41,600 prescription items in March 2026, its highest monthly total since operations began, representing growth of 27.5% month-on-month and taking cumulative items dispensed since launch to approximately 200,000.

MedPal AI said pharmacy operations now generate more than £5 million in annualised turnover based on March volumes, with gross margins exceeding 34%, a level the board attributed to the operational leverage inherent in its automated robotic dispensing infrastructure.

The company launched its pharmacy platform in October 2025 and has reached current volumes without proportionate increases in fixed costs, a dynamic management expects to drive further margin improvement as volumes grow.

Key growth drivers identified by the board include expanding NHS Distance Selling Pharmacy volumes, continued demand for GLP-1 weight-loss treatments through its MedPal.clinic platform, and significant remaining headroom within its existing robotic dispensing capacity.

Chief executive Jason Drummond said the growth rate demonstrated "the power of our vertically integrated, AI-driven model" and that the traditional pharmacy model "is being disrupted, and MedPal is leading that disruption."

The company said its robotic infrastructure could accommodate significantly higher volumes without a proportionate rise in costs.
