BCAL Diagnostics Ltd (ASX:BDX) has accelerated the commercial rollout of its Avantect Pancreatic and Ovarian blood tests, expanding availability across key pathology networks in Australia.
The tests are now accessible through selected Sonic Healthcare collection centres in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, alongside national access via a new agreement with the Healius Pathology Network.
The broader rollout follows the initial launch of Avantect in January 2026 through Sydney Breast Clinic and marks a step forward in BCAL’s push to scale commercial access to its blood-based cancer diagnostics.
Avantect is a cell-free DNA-based test designed to support the early detection of pancreatic and ovarian cancers in patients identified as being at elevated risk. The latest generation of the test integrates genomic and epigenomic analysis with machine learning to provide additional clinical insights for healthcare practitioners.
Building access through established pathology channels
The expansion also builds on BCAL’s existing collaboration with Sonic Healthcare, which is working with the company to improve access to its breast cancer diagnostic, BREASTEST plus.
Managing director Shane Ryan said the broader distribution through major pathology providers was expected to improve access to early detection testing.
“We are incredibly excited to make Avantect products available nationally through our collaboration with Sonic and Healius, two of Australia’s leading pathology providers, accelerating the commercial rollout of these important tests. Clinicians can now begin ordering the tests for their patients using an established national collection network.
"We know that early detection improves clinical outcomes by identifying cancers at a stage where treatment options can be more effective. This initiative builds on our existing collaboration with Sonic Healthcare, supporting broader patient access to our growing portfolio of blood-based cancer diagnostics, including BREASTEST plus.”
By leveraging established pathology networks, BCAL is aiming to move its diagnostics beyond specialist clinics and into more routine clinical settings, supporting earlier intervention pathways for patients at higher risk of cancer.
The agreement with Healius delivers national coverage, while the inclusion of Sonic collection centres in three states provides additional reach across major population hubs.
BCAL said the rollout reflects increasing momentum in the commercialisation of its diagnostic platform, with a focus on expanding access to non-invasive early detection tools.
