Lightning Minerals appoints interim non-executive director amid board change

Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M, FRA:YZ1) has appointed experienced company secretary and governance specialist Justyn Stedwell as an interim non-executive director, following the resignation of Alex Biggs from the board, as the company continues a recent leadership transition that also saw Troy Brice step in as chief executive officer.

The appointment, announced today, strengthens the company’s board-level expertise in corporate governance and compliance at a time when the explorer continues to advance its project portfolio.

Governance experience strengthens board

Stedwell is currently the company secretary of Lightning Minerals, a role he has held since before the company’s IPO in 2022, providing continuity and familiarity with the group’s operations and strategy. He brings around 20 years’ experience as a company secretary across ASX-listed companies spanning multiple sectors, including exploration and technology, and has previously served as a non-executive director on five listed company boards.

His academic background includes a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University, alongside postgraduate qualifications in accounting, finance and corporate governance.

Lightning Minerals said Stedwell will serve as an independent director and receive monthly remuneration of $4,000 in his interim board role.

Leadership changes alongside exploration progress

The board reshuffle comes during a period of ongoing activity for the company, which has been progressing exploration at its Mt Turner gold project in Queensland. Recent drilling campaigns at Mt Turner have returned strong results, helping to define mineralised structures and support the company’s broader growth strategy.

Separately, Lightning Minerals has also been building out its leadership team, with the recent appointment of Troy Brice as chief executive officer, effective from March 23. That move marked a step towards strengthening operational execution and advancing project development.

The addition of Stedwell to the board is expected to complement these efforts, particularly in governance and regulatory oversight, as the company continues to navigate exploration milestones and corporate development initiatives.

While the appointment is described as interim, it provides board continuity following Biggs’ departure and maintains governance coverage at the board level as it progresses its next phase of activity.

Lightning Minerals has not outlined a timeline for a permanent replacement.
