Tower Semiconductor shares gain on high-speed AI networking partnership with Oriole Networks

Tower Semiconductor (NASDAQ:TSEM) saw its shares rise more than 11% after announcing a strategic collaboration with Oriole Networks, a developer of advanced photonic networking platforms.

The partnership aims to advance AI infrastructure through the use of nanosecond optical circuit switching and high-speed optical transceivers.

The companies said the collaboration leverages Tower’s silicon photonics platform to support Oriole’s PRISM and PRISM Ultra networking systems, designed for large-scale AI architectures. By integrating lasers, optical amplification, switching, and high-speed modulation on a single platform, Tower’s technology enables low-latency and high-bandwidth optical connections across AI clusters.

“Tower’s silicon photonics platform allows us to extend beyond traditional data center transceivers into the network fabric itself,” said Dr Ed Preisler, general manager of Tower’s RF Business Unit. “Our joint work with Oriole represents a step toward AI back-end networking that can scale clusters while addressing latency challenges.”

James Regan, CEO of Oriole Networks, highlighted the potential for the technology to meet the growing demands of AI workloads. “The exponential growth of AI is prompting the industry to reconsider traditional electrical, packet-switched networks. Together with Tower, we are developing nanosecond optical circuit switching for a scalable, synchronous AI network,” he said.
