Critical Resources confirms breakthrough in Solid-State Battery tech

Critical Resources Ltd managing director Tim Wither talked with Proactive about the company’s latest technical milestone in its solid-state battery development program, highlighting the successful validation of Dry Supersonic Deposition (DSD) technology for cathode manufacturing.

Wither explained that the company has been evaluating a solid-state lithium-ion battery design using patents licensed from the United States and being assessed in collaboration with the South Dakota School of Mines. The work focuses on developing safer, higher-energy batteries by eliminating the flammable liquid electrolytes typically used in conventional lithium-ion cells.

A key step forward has been demonstrating that DSD can successfully produce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathodes that are both mechanically robust and electrochemically active without the need for solvents or polymer binders.
