A new listed investment trust focused on global fixed income markets is preparing to join the ASX later this month, with the Kapstream Investment Trust (ASX:KIT) seeking to raise up to $300 million ahead of its expected listing on March 30.
The trust will offer investors exposure to a diversified portfolio of global credit securities, with a strategy centred on generating regular income through actively managed investments across investment-grade and other high-quality debt markets.
Shares are being offered at $2.00 each, with the offer having closed on March 4. If the raising is successful, the trust is scheduled to begin trading on the ASX at noon AEDT on March 30.
Focus on income from global credit
Kapstream Investment Trust will be managed by Kapstream Capital, a specialist fixed income investment manager known for global credit strategies used by institutional and retail investors.
The trust aims to provide investors with regular income by investing across a broad range of credit securities issued by governments, corporations and financial institutions worldwide. These may include investment-grade corporate bonds, asset-backed securities and other credit instruments.
By focusing on diversified global credit markets rather than equities, the strategy is designed to provide relatively stable income streams while managing risk through active portfolio construction and credit selection.
The trust also intends to pay investors monthly distributions, an increasingly popular feature among income-focused listed investment vehicles.
Growing market for listed debt funds
Kapstream’s planned float comes as listed credit and debt funds have become a growing segment of the Australian market. Investors seeking alternatives to traditional equity income strategies have increasingly turned to fixed income and credit assets, particularly in periods of market volatility.
Listed investment trusts and funds also offer retail investors easier access to strategies that have historically been more common in institutional portfolios.
Unlike unlisted managed funds, a listed vehicle allows investors to buy and sell units on the ASX during market hours, providing liquidity alongside exposure to professionally managed portfolios.
Distribution and offer structure
The KIT offer was not underwritten but is being supported by several joint lead managers, including Commonwealth Securities, E&P Capital, Ord Minnett, MST Financial Services and Taylor Collison.
The trust plans to issue ordinary fully paid securities under the ticker code KIT.
Proceeds from the offer will be used to establish the trust’s investment portfolio following listing.
Experienced fixed income manager
Kapstream Capital, the manager behind the strategy, specialises in global credit investing and manages a range of fixed income portfolios for institutional and retail clients.
The firm has built a reputation in Australia for actively managed credit strategies that seek to balance income generation with risk management across different economic cycles.
By bringing the strategy to the ASX in listed form, the new trust aims to broaden access for investors looking to diversify beyond traditional equity income sources.
If the capital raising proceeds as planned, the Kapstream Investment Trust will join a growing group of listed investment vehicles focused on global credit markets, offering Australian investors another pathway to generate income from international fixed income opportunities.
