Costco tops fiscal Q2 earnings estimates

Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST, XETRA:CTO) has reported its financial results for the fiscal second quarter, beating Wall Street estimates for both revenue and profit.

For the quarter ended February 15, the warehouse retailer posted revenue of $69.6 billion, above analysts’ estimates of $69.06 billion and up 9.2% from a year earlier. Net sales rose 9.1% to $68.24 billion from $62.53 billion.

Earnings per share came in at $4.58, ahead of the $4.54 expected by analysts. Net income totaled $2.04 billion, compared with $1.79 billion, or $4.02 per share, in the same quarter last year.

Comparable sales increased 7.4% during the quarter, or 6.7% after excluding the impact of gasoline prices and foreign exchange. By region, comparable sales rose 5.9% in the US, 10.1% in Canada, and 13% in other international markets.

Digitally enabled comparable sales grew 22.6% in the quarter.

For the first 24 weeks of fiscal 2026, net sales increased 8.7% year over year to $134.22 billion, while net income rose to $4.04 billion, or $9.08 per share, from $3.59 billion, or $8.06 per share, a year earlier.

In the four weeks ended March 1, the company reported net sales of $21.69 billion, up 9.5% from the prior year. Comparable sales for the period rose 7.9%, or 7% when adjusted for gasoline prices and foreign exchange.

Costco said the timing of the Lunar and Chinese New Year holiday, which occurred 19 days later this year on Feb. 17, boosted international and total company sales in February by roughly 4% and 0.5%, respectively.

The retailer currently operates 924 warehouses globally, including 634 in the United States and Puerto Rico and 114 in Canada, along with locations across Europe, Asia and Australia.

Shares of Costco were little changed at $983 on Friday morning.
