American Resources Corp (NASDAQ:AREC) said on Friday that its wholly owned subsidiary, Electrified Materials Corporation (EMCO), has expanded its pre-processing capabilities at its Indiana facility to handle larger volumes of recycled metals and minerals, including rare earth elements (REEs) and other critical minerals.
The expansion adds new equipment and processing lines for magnet materials, copper, aluminum, and ferrous metals recovered from end-of-life products and manufacturing scrap.
Conditioned materials will be supplied to ReElement Technologies Corporation for advanced separation, purification, and refining into ultra-high-purity rare earth oxides for use in electrification, defense, and advanced manufacturing.
“This expansion represents another important step toward establishing the first fully domestic circular supply chain for rare earth elements,” said Mark Jensen, CEO of American Resources.
The move comes amid growing demand for domestically produced high-purity rare earth oxides and increasing volumes of recycled feedstocks received by EMCO. The near-term expansion will be supported by a private capital raise at the subsidiary level and by recycling grants from the State of Indiana. American Resources plans to spin off EMCO as a standalone publicly listed company.
“Electrified Materials focuses on the aggregation and pre-processing of critical mineral and rare earth feedstocks, while ReElement provides advanced separation and refining capabilities to produce ultra-high-purity materials,” Jensen added. “Together, these platforms create a scalable and efficient life-cycle solution for critical minerals within the United States."
EMCO focuses on scaling aggregation and pre-processing, while ReElement employs patented chromatography-based separation and purification technologies.
Jensen said the combined platform “positions the company to become a leader in circular supply chain solutions for rare earth elements and critical minerals” while supporting domestic manufacturing and US mineral independence.
American Resources continues to explore strategic opportunities to grow Electrified Materials as an independent platform, aiming to strengthen the domestic circular supply chain for critical minerals.
