BioHarvest Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:BHST, FRA:8MV0) said on Thursday that it has appointed former Israeli health ministry chief Hezi Levy to the board effective immediately.
David Tsur will step down from its board of directors after more than four years of service, the company said in a statement.
Levy brings decades of leadership experience in Israel’s healthcare system. A physician by training, Levy previously served as director general of the Israeli Ministry of Health, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he helped guide national healthcare policy.
Levy also served as head of the medical corps of the Israel Defense Forces with the rank of brigadier general and was general manager of Barzilai Medical Center for several years.
Chairman Zaki Rakib said Levy’s medical expertise and experience managing large healthcare systems will strengthen the company’s governance as it expands its direct-to-consumer products business and advances its biotechnology contract development and manufacturing organization platform.
Tsur had served on the board since 2021, a period during which the company expanded operations, raised capital and advanced the commercialization of its products.
The company thanked Tsur for his contributions, saying his leadership and experience helped support its strategic development and governance.
