Risers and Fallers: Cyan Holdings, APR Energy, 7digital, Beowulf Mining, Vast Resources, Optiobiotix

Primark's growth makes Associated British Foods' name more of a misnomer year-by-year

Below are some of the main news-driven share price changes for Thursday.

RISERS

Cyan (LON:CYAN), up 18.6%. After Tuesday’s trading update, John Cronin, executive chairman of the wireless metering specialist, has upped his stake in the company to 2.35%, with the purchase of 54.5mln shares at 0.1827p a throw. Simon Smith, chief financial officer, bought 27.5mln shares at 0.189p a pop to raise his stake to 1.58%.

APR Energy (LON:APR), up 14.0%. The power solutions provider has extended its interim power solution for Senegal’s national electricity utility.

7digital Group (LON:7DIG), up 12.2%. The digital music and radio services company pleased the market with a trading update that revealed improving margins and a sharp increase in turnover from technology licensing.

FALLERS

Beowulf Mining (LON:BEM), down 35.6%. The iron ore project developer is to raise £650,000 from a share issued priced at 1.25p a share. The shares dropped 0.78p to 1.4p.

Vast Resources (LON:VAST), down 12.7%. Vast’s shares fell 0.2p to 1.375p as Sapi River Investments exercised its option to convert its loan of US$1.2mln into shares at an exercise price of 0.5p per share.

Optibiotix Health (LON:OPTI), down 10.3%. The company has inked an agreement with a renowned compound analysis centre in Madrid, which furthers its work on developing novel sugars.

RISERS

Man Group (LON:EMG), up 8.4%. The hedge fund manager’s shares bounced back this morning, having fallen sharply over the last week as global stock markets became edge over developments in Greece and China. The Shanghai market recovered big time today.

Associated British Foods (LON:ABF), up 6.1%. The food ingredients to clothing group cheered the market with new of a good sales performance by its Primark stores, particularly in Ireland and southern Europe.

Fidelity China Special Situations (LON:FCSS), up 5.6%. As the Shanghai stock market goes, so goes Fidelity’s Chinese stock-picking fund.

FALLERS

Vedanta Resources (LON:VED), down 5.0%. The metals and mining firm has taken a battering for the second day in a row as commodity prices fall.

Grafton Group (LON:GFTU), down 4.2%. The builders’ merchant said margins continued to remain under pressure in May and June, both of which are big months for the building trade.

Balfour Beatty (LON:BBY), down 3.8%. The infrastructure group said its ongoing in-depth review has identified further legacy issues that will put a £120mln to £150mln dent in pre-tax profits this year.

Barratt Developments (LON:BDEV), up 2.35%, after the house builder said it expected pre-tax profits to be up 45% increase in full year results.

FTSE 250 bookmaker Bwin.Party (LON:BPTY) rose 2.42% as is revealed it was in talks with GVC Holdings about a £900mln cash-and-equity takeover at 110p per share.

Oil firm 88 Energy (LON:88E) advanced 7.41% as it clarified the ownership transfer timetable for its project Icewine in Alaska, saying the process from now on was transparent and straightforward.

FALLERS

Balfour Beatty (LON:BBY) fell 2.45% as the construction giant issued yet another profit warning, saying its 2015 results will be hit by a shortfall up to £150mln.

Debenhams (LON:DEB), the clothes and household retailer, dropped 2.79% as Swiss heavyweight broker downgraded the shares to 'neutral' from 'buy'.

Eurasia Mining (LON:EUA) eased 12.77% after sky-rocketing yesterday before shares were suspended and resumed in the afternoon. The firm confirmed on Wednesday that Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has approved an application for a mining licence for the West Kytlim project.
