Ocean Power Technologies Inc (NYSE-A:OPTT) has highlighted the growing strategic importance of its autonomous maritime systems as heightened instability in the Middle East sharpens focus on global shipping corridors and offshore energy infrastructure.
The US-listed company said persistent maritime domain awareness and offshore infrastructure protection are becoming increasingly critical as geopolitical tensions place key trade routes and energy assets under strain.
Ocean Power confirmed that its regional partners and team members in the Middle East are safe and that operations and customer support activities continue without disruption.
The group said global commerce and national security operations rely heavily on maritime corridors across the Middle East and other strategically sensitive regions.
It added that elevated tensions reinforce the need for scalable and persistent offshore monitoring solutions, particularly where traditional manned operations may be constrained or cost-prohibitive.
Ocean Power Technologies’ autonomous offshore platforms are designed to provide long-duration unmanned maritime presence, supporting sensing, communications relay and infrastructure monitoring with a reduced logistical footprint and lower operating costs.
