Imugene secures $2.7m R&D tax refund to support clinical programs

Imugene Ltd (ASX:IMU, OTC:IUGNF, FRA:ILA) has received a nearly A$2.74 million research and development tax refund for the 2025 financial year, bolstering its funding position as it advances its clinical-stage immuno-oncology pipeline.

The refund, totalling A$2,738,618 and including A$10,911 in interest, was received under the Australian Government’s R&D Tax Incentive program, which provides eligible companies with a refundable tax offset of up to 48.5%.

Imugene said the funds will support the continued clinical development of its portfolio of immunotherapies.

The payment comes amid ongoing regulatory and clinical momentum for the company. In its most recent quarterly update, Imugene highlighted encouraging data from its allogeneic CAR T candidate azer-cel (azercabtagene zapreleucel) in blood cancers, alongside progress across its broader oncolytic virotherapy and solid tumour programs.

Imugene is focused on developing immunotherapies designed to activate the immune system to treat cancer, with programs spanning cell therapies and oncolytic viruses.

The R&D refund provides additional non-dilutive funding as the company progresses discussions with regulators and continues enrolling patients across its clinical trials.
