Medallion Metals Ltd (ASX:MM8) has moved to reassure investors that its pending acquisition of the Forrestania Nickel Operation (FNO) from IGO Limited remains firmly on track, after the two parties agreed to a brief extension to finalise remaining pre-completion conditions.
The company confirmed that only a minor number of conditions precedent remain outstanding — primarily third-party consents — prompting a mutual agreement to push the transaction's sunset date back by six days, from February 20 to February 26 2026.
Crucially, Medallion stressed that no new conditions have been introduced and that the commercial terms of the deal remain unchanged from those outlined in its original announcement on August 4, 2025.
Completion of the transaction is still expected on or before February 27, 2026, at which point Medallion would assume full operational and statutory responsibility for the FNO — in line with the previously flagged timetable.
The short extension appears to be little more than administrative housekeeping, with both Medallion and IGO reaffirming their commitment to getting the deal across the line as agreed.
Medallion Metals locks in US$50M Trafigura funding and offtake, greenlights Ravensthorpe Gold Project
It has been a busy few days for Medallion, which last week took a decisive step toward production after executing a US$50 million loan facility and offtake agreement with global commodity trader Trafigura Pte Ltd, paving the way for development of its Ravensthorpe Gold Project (RGP) with processing at Forrestania in Western Australia.
The dual agreements, now fully documented, were enough to convince the Medallion board to issue a positive Final Investment Decision (FID) for the project effective immediately — a milestone that signals the company's formal transition from explorer to developer.
Under the terms of the loan facility, proceeds will be directed toward developing the Ravensthorpe project, with the funds expected to be drawn in the second half of 2026, subject to customary conditions precedent including completion of the Forrestania acquisition. Trafigura has also signed a commercial offtake agreement covering the sale and purchase of copper-gold concentrate to be produced from the project.
Development activities are set to kick off once all conditions precedent to the Forrestania acquisition have been satisfied or waived, which Medallion expects to occur no later than February 20, 2026, with transaction completion to follow by February 27, 2026.
Bennett described the agreements as a transformational moment for the company, noting that moving from initial financing discussions to fully executed long-form documents in just five months reflected both the quality of the asset and the strength of the partnership with Trafigura.
"With key regulatory approvals secured and the funding and offtake now documented, we are focused on disciplined execution, advancing Ravensthorpe toward production while continuing technical work across the Forrestania tenure to unlock the broader growth optionality," Bennett said.
The deal positions Medallion as a potential next cab off the rank among Western Australia's gold and copper producers, with the Trafigura backing lending considerable commercial credibility to a project that is now firmly in development mode.
