Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN, FRA:GBL) has moved to strengthen its leadership team, announcing the appointment of Dr Andrew Whitehead as chief executive officer effective immediately.
Dr Whitehead brings more than 15 years of experience across ASX-listed and private resource companies to the role, with a track record spanning iron ore, gold and critical minerals. He has held senior executive positions overseeing commercial strategy, governance, joint ventures, capital management and stakeholder engagement on large-scale resource development projects.
Dr Andrew Whitehead joins Surefire as chief executive officer.
His academic credentials include a PhD in International Business from Flinders University and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance & Investment, complemented by completion of the Company Directors Course through the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Under the terms of his appointment, Dr Whitehead will receive total fixed remuneration of $300,000 per annum plus statutory superannuation, with his employment agreement incorporating standard confidentiality provisions and intellectual property protections.
The leadership change comes as the company also confirmed that Managing Director Paul Burton has resigned from his role, with his departure taking effect from February 20. Surefire thanked Burton for his contribution and wished him well in his future endeavours.
Surefire Resources advances gold, copper and critical minerals portfolio ahead of 2026 drilling push
Surefire kept busy across its Western Australian project pipeline during the December 2025 quarter, refining priority targets, progressing technical studies and laying the groundwork for a busy drilling program in early 2026.
The standout development was further confirmation that the company's flagship Yidby Gold Project is emerging as a large, structurally controlled gold system — a finding that continues to build the geological case for the asset. Meanwhile, drill-ready copper targets at Copper Hill are primed for follow-up work, and strategic and technical studies continued to advance at the Victory Bore vanadium–titanium–iron project.
With multiple catalysts on the horizon as drilling preparations gather pace, Surefire is positioning itself for an active start to the new year across its diversified critical minerals and precious metals portfolio.
