Trust Stamp in talks with Nigeria’s NITDA on digital trust framework

Trust Stamp Inc (NASDAQ:IDAI, ISE:AIID) announced that it has entered strategic discussions with Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) aimed at strengthening the country’s digital trust framework and supporting the growth of its digital economy.

The provider of AI-powered identity and security solutions said the talks focus on integrating privacy-first biometric technologies into Nigeria’s expanding digital infrastructure.

At a meeting in Abuja, NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi highlighted digital trust as a key driver of the digital economy, stating that citizens must have confidence that their data is handled securely and ethically for Nigeria to achieve its goal of building a $1 trillion digital economy.

A central element of the discussions is Trust Stamp’s biometric tokenization technology, which converts biometric data into an irreversible, anonymized token rather than storing original facial or fingerprint images that could be exposed in a data breach.

Inuwa said the engagement with Trust Stamp is intended to support the development of foundational national infrastructure and strengthen the country’s digital economy.

“Trust remains a critical foundation for the growth of the digital economy,” Inuwa said. “Building trust in digital platforms and services is key to accelerating adoption and unlocking opportunities across sectors.”

He added that NITDA aims to provide a supportive regulatory and policy environment that enables private sector innovators to expand solutions that are secure, inclusive and innovation-driven.

According to Trust Stamp, the collaboration is expected to help extend advanced identity verification tools to small and medium-sized enterprises that have typically been available primarily to large financial institutions. The effort is also intended to support the creation of what the company described as a more resilient digital ecosystem while maintaining protections for citizens’ personal data.

Trust Stamp said the next phase of the engagement will include technical workshops to develop a roadmap for deploying the identity solutions across government services and the broader private sector.
