JP Morgan analysts hunt stocks 'unfairly' hit by AI-maggeddon panic

Analysts at JP Morgan have gone hunting for stocks that they believe have been unfairly punished by fears that AI will “disintermediate” entire business models.

In a thematic note, the American bank said it had surveyed top-ranked research analysts to identify “mispriced stocks most insulated from AI disruption,” then worked with its Delta One team to package the picks into a dedicated research basket called “Top Mispriced Stocks Amid AI Disintermediation”.

The basket pulls together names across sectors where analysts argue the market’s shoot-first reaction has outpaced fundamentals. These include picks from defence and industrial services to payments, data, software infrastructure and consumer platforms. Several rationales point to the recent “AI fears trade” as the trigger for sharp drawdowns, with JP Morgan analysts contending that moats tied to regulated datasets, proprietary workflows, embedded enterprise integrations and high-touch advisory services are harder to automate away than headline risk suggests.

Among the more colourful examples, JP Morgan’s transportation team notes that CH Robinson Worldwide Inc was swept up in an AI-driven sell-off sparked by attention around a little-known operator, adding that the firm behind the headlines was “formerly a karaoke machine importer.”

Elsewhere, in its retail coverage, the bank argues Wayfair Inc category is less vulnerable to agentic shopping because home furnishings decisions are high involvement; “no one would just punch in ‘buy me a black chair’, not according to one analyst.
