Anthropic raises $30B in Series G funding, doubling valuation to $380B

Anthropic, the AI startup behind the Claude platform, has closed a $30 billion Series G funding round, marking the second-largest private tech fundraising in history after rival OpenAI.

The investment more than doubled the company’s valuation to $380 billion and comes as adoption of its AI tools continues to surge.

The round was led by Singapore’s GIC and Coatue and co-led by D. E. Shaw Ventures, Dragoneer, Founders Fund, ICONIQ, and MGX. Other participants included major venture and investment firms such as Accel, Sequoia Capital, BlackRock, Blackstone, Temasek, Goldman Sachs, JPMorganChase, and Fidelity, among others. The round also incorporates previously announced investments from Microsoft and NVIDIA.

Anthropic said the funding will support frontier research, product development, and infrastructure expansion, particularly for its enterprise AI and coding tools.

“Whether it is entrepreneurs, startups, or the world’s largest enterprises, the message from our customers is the same: Claude is increasingly becoming critical to how businesses work,” Anthropic chief financial officer Krishna Rao said in a statement.

“This fundraising reflects the incredible demand we are seeing from these customers, and we will use this investment to continue building the enterprise-grade products and models they have come to depend on.”

The company also announced that its current run rate has reached $14 billion, largely driven by enterprise customers, a pace that would surpass its $10 billion in revenue from the previous year. Former General Motors and Microsoft executive Chris Liddell has joined Anthropic’s board as part of its expansion.

Anthropic has seen rapid growth since its first revenue in 2023, reporting annual run-rate growth of over 10x in each of the past three years, the company noted.
