SDI Group acquires avionics business in £9.3m deal

SDI Group PLC announced it has acquired PRP Optoelectronics for a net £9.3m, a deal that takes the buy-and-build group into the avionics market and deepens its exposure to aerospace and defence supply chains.

PRP designs and manufactures custom high-performance microLEDs, LED light engines and monolithic LEDs used in applications from avionics displays to thermal imaging and UV purification, with SDI describing its products as essential components on programmes including Eurofighter Typhoon, the F-16 and the F-22 Raptor.

For the year ended 31 December 2025, PRP delivered £5.99m in revenue and £1.54m in EBIT on unaudited management accounts, and had net assets of £4.43m including cash.

SDI said PRP brings long-term revenue visibility supported by long-term agreements and a stable, blue-chip customer base, and the deal is expected to be earnings enhancing in the first full year of ownership, with PRP joining its Industrial & Scientific Sensors division.

Total consideration comprises £11.3m of cash paid on completion plus £0.8–0.9m deferred, and will be funded from SDI’s revolving credit facility with HSBC UK Bank.
