BioVie highlights bezisterim research at ACP meeting

BioVie Inc (NASDAQ:BIVI, NASDAQ:BIVIW) said on Thursday that two abstracts highlighting research on its lead drug candidate bezisterim (NE3107) have been accepted for presentation at the 2026 American College of Psychiatrists annual meeting in Bonita Springs, Florida.

The abstracts, which focus on bezisterim’s potential in Alzheimer’s disease and Long COVID, will be presented as posters on February 18.

One abstract, titled “Bezisterim-Associated Anti-inflammatory Epigenetic Modulation of Age Acceleration and Cognition in Alzheimer’s Disease,” examines the drug’s impact on inflammation, biological aging markers and cognitive function in Alzheimer’s patients. The second, “Baseline Characteristics of Currently Enrolled Participants in Phase 2 Study of Bezisterim (NE3107) in Long COVID (ADDRESS-LC),” outlines data from participants enrolled in the ongoing mid-stage trial evaluating the therapy for neurological symptoms linked to Long COVID.

Bezisterim is an oral drug designed to cross the blood-brain barrier and reduce inflammation while improving insulin sensitivity without suppressing the immune system. The therapy targets pathways involved in neuroinflammation and is being studied across multiple indications.

In Parkinson’s disease, BioVie previously reported Phase 2 data showing patients taking bezisterim alongside levodopa experienced improved motor control and fewer morning symptoms compared with levodopa alone. The company recently completed enrollment in its 60-patient SUNRISE-PD trial evaluating bezisterim as a standalone treatment, with topline results expected in mid-2026.

BioVie is also enrolling approximately 200 patients in its ADDRESS-LC Phase 2 trial in Long COVID, with topline data anticipated in mid-2026. In Alzheimer’s disease, the company has completed Phase 2 and Phase 3 studies and said earlier results support further evaluation of the drug’s potential to improve cognition and related biomarkers.

Carson City, Nevada-based BioVie is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on therapies for neurological disorders and advanced liver disease.
