Critical Resources launches solid-state battery evaluation

Critical Resources managing director Tim Wither talked with Proactive about the company’s structured solid-state lithium-ion battery evaluation program in the United States, marking a step beyond early-stage optioning into laboratory-based validation of next-generation battery materials.

Wither said the company has begun “a structured pathway evaluation pathway” through CEPS, focusing on two parallel projects. The first centres on an amorphous solid-state electrolyte, described as the “heart of the batteries,” aimed at replacing liquid electrolytes that are associated with fire risks in conventional lithium-ion batteries. The second project involves dry-deposited supersonic deposition technology, effectively 3D printing cathode material in a solvent-free process designed to reduce manufacturing steps.
