MedPal AI shares surge on operational update and platform scale

Shares in MedPal AI rose as much as 14% in early trading on Tuesday after the AIM-listed healthcare technology company reported strong initial traction for its vertically integrated UK platform, which combines AI-driven triage with human-led prescribing and robotic pharmacy dispensing.

The company said 36,951 prescription items were dispensed in January 2026, alongside 7,791 new app installations — all either paid or linked to the company’s partnership with employee benefits platform Epassi, which reaches over 11 million employees.

The update reflects the firm’s evolution from an app-focused model to a fully integrated digital health and pharmacy services platform, generating revenue across multiple points in the patient journey.

Jason Drummond, chief executive, said: “MedPal AI's platform uniquely integrates AI, clinicians, and robotic dispensing for end-to-end care and revenue at every step. Our cross-sell flywheel compounds value: app users become pharmacy patients, and vice versa.”

The business model includes monthly or annual app subscriptions (£3.99 or £29.99), NHS dispensing fees of £9.90 or more per item, private prescription income including high-demand treatments such as GLP-1 drugs, and clinical consultation charges.

The company said its human-in-the-loop prescribing system enables AI-led triage to be validated by clinical professionals, before automated pharmacy dispensing and delivery is executed. This end-to-end integration supports multiple revenue streams per patient.

After a busy initial burst, the shares settled back to 5.5p, up 5% on the day.
