Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), the parent company of Google, is seeking to raise about $15 billion through a US high-grade dollar bond sale, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The move reflects a broader trend among technology firms tapping debt markets to fund infrastructure projects as demand for artificial intelligence workloads surges.
According to regulatory filings, Alphabet plans to sell the bonds in as many as seven tranches, though the documents did not specify the total size of the offering. Initial pricing discussions for the longest-dated portion of the deal, a bond maturing in 2066, are reportedly set at a premium of around 1.2 percentage points above US Treasuries.
Alphabet has not publicly commented on the report.
The planned bond sale follows a wave of debt offerings from major tech companies, which have increasingly turned to bond markets to finance capital-intensive projects, including AI data centers and other infrastructure, even as interest rates remain higher than in recent years.
