Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced that it has made its AI-upgraded digital assistant, Alexa+, available to all US users, nearly a year after launching the service in an early access preview.
Alexa+ is designed to perform a range of tasks, including managing calendars, booking travel or restaurant reservations, handling shopping lists, and controlling smart home devices. Users can access the assistant on Alexa-enabled devices, the Alexa app, or through web browsers at Alexa.com. Chat history, preferences, and cross-device synchronization are maintained across platforms.
The service is included at no additional cost for Prime members. Non-members can subscribe for $19.99 per month or try a limited free version via the web or app.
Amazon said 10s of millions of users participated in early access, with engagement exceeding that of the standard Alexa assistant.
The expansion to web browsers allows users to interact with Alexa+ outside of Amazon’s devices, aligning with broader trends in AI assistants and chatbots.
“With an entirely new architecture powered by large language models—from both Amazon Nova and Anthropic—Alexa+ is significantly more powerful, and customers are using it in completely new and different ways,” the company said in a blog post.
