Midnight Sun Mining Corp (TSX-V:MMA, OTCQB:MDNGF) said on Thursday it has extended copper mineralization at its Dumbwa target in Zambia after reporting new drill results that continue to expand the system along strike.
The Canada-listed miner said assays from 28 drill holes, totalling about 5,247 metres, confirmed multiple zones of copper mineralization at the 100%-owned Dumbwa target near Solwezi, with drilling continuing to extend the system north and south.
Highlights included an intercept of 0.89% copper over 25 metres in hole DBW-25-021, which cut four separate mineralized zones, as well as 0.46% copper over 50 metres in DBW-25-030, including a higher-grade interval of 1.36% over 6 metres. Another hole, DBW-25-027, returned 0.48% copper over nearly 22 metres.
Midnight Sun COO Kevin Bonel said the results support the company’s strategy of systematically defining shallow, continuous copper mineralization along strike, similar to the nearby Lumwana mine.
“Each hit strengthens our confidence in the Dumbwa system and further validates our thesis,” Bonel said, adding that drilled strike length has now exceeded 3.6 kilometres with strong continuity.
Midnight Sun said 122 holes have been completed at Dumbwa to date, with five holes currently in progress and a further 140 holes planned to test an additional three kilometres of strike. The upcoming work represents about 25,000 metres of drilling.
The company said samples from an additional 64 drill holes have been submitted for assay, while remaining samples are still being prepared.
