Phunware Inc (NASDAQ:PHUN, FRA:2RJA) is narrowing its go-to-market strategy around the hospitality sector, concentrating its product offering on two core solutions as the company doubles down on an area where it says customer traction, engagement metrics and revenue potential are strongest.
The enterprise mobile software company also unveiled a redesigned corporate website, highlighting its refined hospitality-focused product portfolio and showcasing how its platform enhances guest experiences, engagement and ancillary revenue.
While other lines of business will continue to be supported, the company plans to actively promote its solutions for hotels and resorts.
Interim CEO Jeremy Krol said the shift follows a review of customer data and platform performance since he stepped into the role.
“When I stepped in as CEO, my mandate was simple: focus and double down on where we deliver the most value,” Krol said. “We looked at the data, and it was clear that our platform can and should be used to fundamentally change the economics of large hotels and resorts.”
Phunware’s hospitality offering is now organized into two product tiers: a Luxury Engagement solution designed for premium hotel brands, and an Enriched Experience product aimed at full-service properties. Both offerings are built around modular, native mobile applications that use cloud-driven updates and Phunware’s location and wayfinding technology to improve guest navigation, engagement and on-property spending.
The company said the products address a key challenge for large, spatially complex hotels and resorts that operate multiple amenities, venues and events across expansive properties. By reducing friction in how guests find services, book experiences and interact with staff, Phunware believes hotels can boost guest satisfaction while driving higher-margin ancillary revenue.
Krol said properties using Phunware’s hospitality software are seeing mobile app adoption rates exceeding 70%, a level of engagement he described as unusually high for the industry.
“When a guest doesn't have to wander through a maze with a paper map to find his or her room or come back tomorrow to book a spa appointment because the spa just closed, the guest’s vacation starts instantly,” Krol said. “(That) level of guest engagement can turn a static hotel or resort stay into a high-margin digital marketplace.”
Phunware said its decision to emphasize hospitality reflects both customer demand and the scalability of its platform in a market it views as multi-billion-dollar in size. The company believes its solutions can be deployed across a wide range of hotel and resort operators using a repeatable model, creating a clearer customer acquisition and expansion playbook.
“We have the ability to deploy this standard to customers across the hospitality industry,” Krol added, “and our new website reflects an absolute commitment to addressing the biggest problem in hospitality: unnecessary friction between guests and their vacations.”
