Nvidia invests $2B in CoreWeave to accelerate AI data center buildout

Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA, XETRA:NVD) has invested $2 billion in AI infrastructure provider CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) as part of an expanded strategic collaboration between the two companies.

Under the terms of the investment, Nvidia purchased CoreWeave Class A common stock at a price of $87.20 per share. CoreWeave shares added more than 12% to about $104 at Monday’s opening bell on the news, while Nvidia edged 0.2% higher to about $188.

The companies said the expanded relationship is aimed at accelerating the buildout of large-scale AI data center capacity, with CoreWeave planning to develop and operate more than 5 gigawatts of so-called AI factories by 2030. The facilities are intended to support growing global demand for artificial intelligence compute.

Nvidia and CoreWeave said they will deepen their alignment across infrastructure, software and platform development. As part of the agreement, CoreWeave plans to adopt Nvidia CPU and storage platforms and deploy multiple generations of Nvidia computing architectures across its cloud platform, including the Rubin platform, Vera CPUs and BlueField storage systems.

The companies also plan to test and validate CoreWeave’s AI-native software and reference architecture, including its SUNK and Mission Control offerings, with the goal of increasing interoperability and potentially incorporating those tools into Nvidia’s reference architectures for cloud service providers and enterprise customers.

In addition, Nvidia will leverage its financial resources to help accelerate CoreWeave’s procurement of land, power and building shells needed to support the expansion of AI factory capacity, according to the announcement.

“AI is entering its next frontier and driving the largest infrastructure buildout in human history,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in a statement. “CoreWeave’s deep AI factory expertise, platform software, and unmatched execution velocity are recognized across the industry.”

CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator said the expanded collaboration reflects rising customer demand as AI systems move into large-scale production. “From the very beginning, our collaboration has been guided by a simple conviction: AI succeeds when software, infrastructure, and operations are designed together,” Intrator said.
