MedPal AI rises 8% on pharmacy automation breakthrough

Shares in MedPal AI climbed 8% to 5.75p after the company announced a major leap in operational efficiency at its pharmacy subsidiary, MedPal Limited.

The AIM-listed digital health firm said recent server infrastructure upgrades had delivered a 30-fold increase in prescription dispensing speed. The Robopharma robot, which previously processed 40 prescriptions an hour, can now handle more than 100 in under five minutes.

The improvement follows a full modernisation of MedPal’s server systems, which underpin its robotic dispensing and pharmacy management technology. The company said the enhanced capacity would support continued growth in both NHS contract work and its private retail pharmacy operations.

Chief executive Jason Drummond said the upgrade showed the “operational leverage” built into MedPal’s infrastructure. “This positions MedPal to handle significantly increased prescription volumes while maintaining the quality and reliability our customers expect,” he added.

The move forms part of MedPal’s wider strategy to combine AI-driven healthcare services with regulated pharmacy delivery, with a particular focus on scaling in the care home and high street markets.
