Lululemon halts online sales of new collection after sheerness complaints

Lululemon Athletica Inc (NASDAQ:LULU) has temporarily paused online sales of its new Get Low activewear line after customers raised concerns that the fabric was too sheer.

The collection, which includes leggings, tights, and tank tops designed to offer a sculpted, weightless feel during workouts, remains available in Lululemon’s North American stores, according to a company spokesperson.

“We have temporarily paused sales online in the market to better understand some initial guest feedback and support with product education,” the spokesperson said.

Lululemon added that it expects to return the collection to its North American e-commerce channels soon, and that the line continues to be sold in other international markets.

The decision followed a wave of customer complaints on social media platforms, including Reddit, where users reported that the leggings appeared see-through during bending or squatting movements. Some consumers also noted sizing issues, saying the knit fabric stretched excessively and ran larger than expected.

The incident echoes earlier issues for the company, including a 2013 recall of sheer black yoga pants and a 2024 pull of the Breezethrough leggings due to fit and material concerns.

Shares of Lululemon initially pulled back on the news but reversed course to trade 0.7% higher at about $190, down almost 50% in the last 12 months.
