American Resources, ReElement mint world’s first utility token for critical minerals

American Resources Corp (NASDAQ:AREC) announced that it has successfully minted the world’s first utility token for critical minerals with its subsidiary ReElement Technologies.

The token, created in partnership with blockchain firm SAGINT, was minted on a private Sui Layer-1 blockchain and tracks refined neodymium oxide from ReElement’s Noblesville, Indiana, facility. It establishes a verifiable chain of custody, recording material origin, processing, and mass balance, and is designed to support compliance with the US Department of War’s Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).

“This utility token for neodymium oxide-an essential material for electronics, electric vehicles, and defense applications-demonstrates our commitment to US mineral independence and supply-chain resilience, while reducing geopolitical risk and creating long-term value,” said Mark Jensen, CEO of American Resources.

The tokenization system allows materials to be tracked from mine to market, with digital warehouse receipts representing physical inventory. The platform also includes automated compliance features such as restricted jurisdiction checks, sanctions screening, investor verification, and secured-party interest tracking under UCC Article 12.

“This milestone represents an advancement in securing America’s critical mineral supply chains,” said Jacob Clayton, CEO of SAGINT. Clayton added the token demonstrates readiness for DFARS compliance and supports US manufacturers by linking physical commodities with digital blockchain solutions.

ReElement and SAGINT plan to expand the platform in 2026 to include other rare earth oxides, battery materials, and defense-critical minerals. The technology will be deployed across ReElement’s Marion, Indiana, facility and future refining sites, with the aim of streamlining compliance, improving traceability, and supporting secure trade finance for industrial and defense customers.
