Astrid targets infrastructure revenues with TaoFi deal

Astrid Intelligence PLC (AQSE:ASTR) said it expects growing activity in decentralised artificial intelligence networks to translate into higher revenues after buying TaoFi, a key piece of trading and liquidity infrastructure within the Bittensor ecosystem.

The AQSE-listed group said the acquisition strengthens its push to become an operator of core digital infrastructure rather than a speculative holder of digital assets.

TaoFi runs services that allow users to move stablecoins and trade tokens inside the Bittensor network, which is designed to reward developers and machine learning models for contributing computing power and intelligence.

Astrid said TaoFi enables users to bridge USDC, a dollar-pegged stablecoin, between Ethereum and Bittensor.

In practical terms, that allows capital to flow in and out of the network, supporting trading activity and liquidity. As usage of decentralised AI platforms increases, Astrid believes this infrastructure will handle higher volumes and generate income for the group.

Following the deal, TaoFi will be rebranded as Astrid Bridge and folded into Astrid’s wider portfolio of decentralised services. The platform will continue to offer token exchange, liquidity provision for the TAO and USDC pool, and bridging services between blockchains.

Other features, such as lending and cross-chain subnet tools, will be wound down over the next 30 days as the company narrows its focus to what it describes as protocol-critical services.

The purchase is small in financial terms and was paid for using TAO tokens already held by Astrid. Subnet 10, which previously formed part of TaoFi, will no longer sit within the platform, although existing liquidity providers will continue to earn incentives under the underlying network rules.

Mark Creaser, chief executive, said the transaction marked another step in reshaping Astrid into an infrastructure-led business.

“The acquisition of TaoFi represents a further step in Astrid’s transition into an infrastructure-led operating company, with an expanding portfolio of protocol-critical assets that enable decentralised AI networks to function efficiently and at scale,” he said.
