Arizona Gold & Silver Inc (TSX-V:AZS, OTCQB:AZASF) has announced the appointment of Dr Lex Lambeck as senior vice president of exploration, succeeding Greg Hahn, who will transition to the role of vice chair while remaining on the company’s board of directors.
According to the company, Dr Lambeck has more than 25 years of experience in mineral exploration and project development, with work spanning the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Australia.
He most recently served as vice president of exploration at MAG Silver, where he was involved in district-scale exploration programs and acted as chief geologist for the Deer Trail Project in Utah. Dr Lambeck is also the founder and chief executive officer of LamSil Geological Services.
In his new role, Dr Lambeck will oversee Arizona Gold & Silver’s exploration programs across its portfolio, including but not limited to the Philadelphia project. The company stated that additional personnel are expected to be hired to support expanded exploration activities.
Dr Lambeck holds a PhD in geology and is a member of the American Institute of Professional Geologists, with a Certified Professional Geologist designation.
He has led multi-year exploration programs and has experience integrating geological, geochemical, geophysical, and 3D modeling data, as well as managing permitting and stakeholder engagement.
Hahn, who has more than 50 years of experience in the mining industry, will continue to support the company as vice chair following his involvement in exploration activities at the Philadelphia project.
Mike Stark, Arizona CEO, welcomed Dr Lambeck to the company, noting his leadership and exploration experience.
“His experience in epithermal vein deposits and managing large scale projects will be a benefit as we aggressively advance the Philadelphia project,” Stark said. “He will also tackle exploration of the large-scale gold-antimony system at the Silverton project.”
Dr Lambeck said the quality of the Philadelphia property was a significant motivation for him to take on his new role.
“I see it as a real winner for both the company and my career. It is a compelling project with the scale of upside required for the industry and investment community to really take notice,” Dr Lambeck said.
“Importantly, it falls within the two best mining jurisdictions in the country. The Silverton and Sycamore Canyon projects add additional upside that is yet to be recognized. I intend to change that."
The company also reported that a recent site visit to the Philadelphia project resulted in the collection of 159 core images and interviews, which are expected to be uploaded to the company’s website.
