Ergomed (LON:ERGO) said its co-development partner Æterna Zentaris has completed the recruitment of 500 patients for a phase 3 study on uterine cancer.

The Phase 3 ZoptEC (Zoptarelin Doxorubicin in Endometrial Cancer) pivotal study will examine the effects of zoptarelin doxorubicin on women with advanced, recurrent or metastatic endometrial cancer.

"The ZoptEC study is being conducted in over 120 sites in North America, Europe and Israel, and we are pleased that recruitment goals were met ahead of schedule,” said Miroslav Reljanovic, chief executive officer of Ergomed.

“This is testament to Ergomed's international experience and local knowledge, which enables the most efficient study management structure through our site management model, delivering faster recruitment of quality patients to agreed timelines,” he added.

Ergomed is a UK-based provider of specialised services to the pharmaceutical industry that has often worked with Canadian pharmaceutical firm Æterna Zentaris in the past.

The Canadian firm is advancing its plans for the commercialisation of its zoptarelin doxorubicin product, Ergomed said.
