Oxford Nanopore rises on strong 2025 revenue growth

Shares in Oxford Nanopore Technologies PLC (LSE:ONT) rose 8% to 152p on Monday after the DNA sequencing group said its revenue for 2025 would come in slightly ahead of guidance, helped by double-digit growth across all regions and customer markets.

The company expects to report revenue of between £223 million and £224 million for the year to 31 December, up around 22% on a reported basis and 24% at constant currency.

That compares to £183.2 million in 2024, and edges past its previous forecast range of 20% to 23% growth at constant exchange rates.

Oxford Nanopore, which specialises in portable and scalable sequencing technology, said the performance reflected “broad-based growth” across geographies and customer segments.

Clinical revenues grew by around 60% during the year, with BioPharma up 30% and Applied Industrial sales rising 27%. Research-related sales rose 15% despite ongoing funding pressures in the academic sector.

From a product perspective, the PromethION line, aimed at large-scale users, delivered standout growth of over 40% year on year.

The company also said it remains well capitalised, ending 2025 with roughly £302 million in cash and liquid investments.

That was ahead of market expectations and helped by better working capital management, giving Oxford Nanopore what it described as “continued balance sheet strength” to support its strategy.

Full preliminary results will be published on 2 March 2026, with a webcast and Q&A session for investors scheduled the same morning.
