Harbour Energy PLC (LSE:HBR) has been appointed operator of the Zama oil project offshore Mexico.
The appointment was agreed by the Zama project partners and approved by Mexico’s Ministry of Energy, known as SENER.
The Zama partners include Pemex, Grupo Carso and Talos Energy. Under the agreement, the partners will have the option to appoint key personnel into Harbour’s project team as the project moves into its next phase.
Gustavo Baquero, managing director for Mexico at Harbour, said: “Harbour's appointment as operator of the strategically important Zama project is testament to the trust that the Mexican government, including Pemex, places in Harbour and our partners."
Harbour owns a 32.2% interest in Zama.
