West Wits Mining Ltd (ASX:WWI, OTCQB:WMWWF) has been granted a new prospecting right, PR 10839, via its operating subsidiary West Wits MLI (Pty) Ltd, following approval from South Africa’s Department of Mineral & Petroleum Resources.
The ground sits adjacent to the group’s existing Mining Right (MR 10073) at the Witwatersrand Basin Project (WBP) in Johannesburg and is positioned as a strategic addition to support longer-term expansion around the Qala Shallows development.
Mining Right - MR10073 (blue); Prospecting Right – PR10730 (yellow) & Prospecting Right PR 10839 (red).
Depth extension to Kimberley Reef at Qala Shallows
PR 10839 provides a depth extension to the Qala Shallows Kimberley Reef ore body beneath MR 10073, adding continuity south of the current mining right boundary.
The new right lies directly south of MR 10073 and also extends east from PR 10730, which was granted in December 2024. Combined, the expanded prospecting footprint is expected to support the planned Stage 4 Qala Deeps project within the broader WBP.
Geological modelling and MRE review underway
Geological modelling is underway across the newly granted area using existing sample and survey data, with work focused on the Kimberley Reefs.
Consultants Shango Solutions have been engaged to review and remodel the existing Kimberley Reefs mineral resource estimate at a lower cut-off grade, reflecting the higher gold price environment compared with the 2.0 g/t cut-off applied prior to 2017, when gold was trading near US$1,200/oz.
The remodel is expected to incorporate geological data from PR 10839.
The existing global mineral resource estimate for the WBP totals 5.025 Moz of gold at an average grade of 4.66 g/t.
