Copper prices hit a fresh all-time high on Tuesday, topping $12,000 a ton, as a combination of mine outages, trade disruptions, and robust demand for the industrial metal propelled North American copper producers and developers higher.
On the London Metal Exchange, prices climbed as much as 2% to $12,159.50 a ton, extending a rally that has pushed copper more than a third higher in 2025, putting the metal on track for its biggest annual gain since 2009.

New Era Energy & Digital (NASDAQ:NUAI) said on Tuesday it had agreed to buy out its partner’s stake in a planned hyperscale data center development in West Texas, consolidating full ownership as the project moves toward its next phase.
The Nasdaq-listed company said it will acquire Sharon AI’s 50% interest in Texas Critical Data Centers LLC (TCDC) for $70 million, giving New Era 100% ownership of the project.
Novo Nordisk (NYSE:NVO) shares rose nearly 8% after the US Food and Drug Administration approved its Wegovy pill, the first oral GLP-1 treatment for weight management.
Currently, GLP-1 treatments for weight-loss and diabetes are given by injection, with Denmark-based Novo first to market with its Wegovy and Ozempic drugs, before being overtaken by Eli Lilly, whose injectable Mounjaro and Zepbound control around 58% of total prescriptions versus Novo’s 42%.
