Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (OTCQB:LBSR) said on Monday it has appointed Matt Westbrook to its board of directors.
Westbrook brings extensive experience in critical minerals development and national security–focused investment, with established relationships across US Defense and Intelligence communities. The company said his expertise aligns with Liberty Star’s growing engagement with federal agencies on domestic critical mineral supply chains.
Westbrook’s appointment comes as longtime director Saleem Elmasri steps down. Elmasri, who joined the board in 2023, will continue to advise the company during the transition.
“Elmasri’s counsel and support have been instrumental during a pivotal stage of our development,” said Pete O’Heeron, chairman of Liberty Star Minerals. “At the same time, we are excited to welcome Matt Westbrook to the Board. His leadership in critical minerals and his strategic relationships will be invaluable as we work to advance our mineral exploration projects and support the United States’ growing demand for secure domestic resources.”
Westbrook said the company is well-positioned to help establish US-based sources of precious metals and critical minerals, which he described as essential for economic resilience and the defense industrial base.
He will support Liberty Star’s initiatives across its Hay Mountain Holdings, Earp Ridge, and Red Rock Canyon targets, as well as the newly defined American Strategic Minerals entity, aimed at developing partnerships in areas with copper, gold, rare earth elements, and other critical minerals.
